Who is Bill Gates?

I really don’t want to answer this question. 99.99% of us know about him. But still, for the rest of 0.01%, I have to do it.

Bill Gates is the person who founded Microsoft in 1975 with Paul Allen. It later became the world’s largest PC’s software company and succeeding. Along with this superb accomplishment, he’s also an author, public speaker, extremely prominent philanthropist and one of my favorite dropouts.

If you are using a laptop or a desktop, there are high chances that it has Microsoft Windows installed on it. He has been the world’s richest person for about 18 years.

Almost every one of us knows that he was the richest person in the world for a long time. We also know that he a college dropout. But there are some facts about Bill Gates I can bet you didn’t know. So, go on. Read them out and tell me in the comments section the number of facts you didn’t know.

Fact No. 1: Super Intelligent OS at his home

The home of Bill Gates has a super intelligent OS (operating system) that can be customized by his guest. If you’re lucky enough to be invited into his Washington estate Nicknamed Zandu 2.0, you will able to its magic.

At there, you’re asked to wear a pin badge which adjusts lighting, temperature, and music in according to your liking. The great thing is you can change the artwork with a button. Also, there is a trampoline room too.

Owning such an incredible house comes at a paying one million dollars per year in property taxes for it. But still, the home is no less than a paradise. And a million dollars is no big deal for him.

Fact No. 2: Special Computer to calculate taxes paid by Bill Gates

In 2006, the IRS used a special computer to calculate taxes paid by Bill Gates. His tax returns can’t be processed on a normal computer so they can accommodate all of those zeros. No one knows which operating system this particular computer uses. But we hope its Microsoft and not the Linux.

By this fact, you can estimate his value and worth at that time.

The first computer program he wrote was the game of Tic-Tac-Toe. It was written during his time at lakeside preschool. He created a program on one General Computer that the school had.

The matter of fact is that he was only 13 at the time. His creative mind led the school to give him the job of writing the computer code that scheduled classes.  Being a teenager, Gates abused his power slightly and made sure he put himself in all of the classes with the most girls.

Despite dropping out of college Bill was a very successful student. Talking about his intelligence, on his SATs he scored 1590 out of 1600.

Fact No. 4: Collection of Da Vinci’s writing

In 1994, Bill Gates bought a collection of DA Vinci’s writing for 31 million dollars. The Codex Leicester was bought at auction by Gates. And it gives a unique artist and inventor.

When he bought it, Gates had the pages scanned into digital copies. He published these digital copies online for free so that everyone has access to them. He even had them become Microsoft wallpaper and screensaver files. Since then it’s been on display around the world.

Fact No. 5: Correcting the Code himself

In the first 5 years, he oversaw Microsoft’s code and corrected it if there were any mistakes. You won’t believe but Bill Gates personally checked every line of the code and rewrote it himself if there was an error.

Gates was able to oversee every aspect of his small company in the early years. At this time, they were still operating from a house in Bellevue, Washington.

Around 20 years later Jeff Bezos would find Amazon in Bellevue too. Maybe there’s something in the water of Bellevue. And now at the time, I am writing this article, Jeff Bezos is the richest person in the world.   

Fact No. 6: Inherited money for his kids

The net worth of Bill Gates is more than 80 billion dollars. But each of his kid will only inherit 10 million dollars. Rather than dividing his entire fortune up equally, his children are getting comparatively modest inheritances. It is like a matchstick in front of a tree. But still, 10 million dollars is not a small value. At least not for me.

When asked about this, Gates quoted by saying “Leaving kids massive amounts of money is not a favor to them”. This is an interesting move especially considering kids should be worth billions.

Let us hypothetically consider Bill Gates as a country. So, he’d be the 63rd richest country in the world four to five times richer than North Korea. Isn’t it interesting?

Fact No. 7: Death bed letter to Steve Jobs by Bill Gates

When Steve Jobs was dying of cancer, Gates wrote him a letter and kept it beside his bed. They were famous rivals but the two men also had a strong bond. They spent a lot of time together when Steve Jobs was dying.

Bill Gates insists there was no need to make peace with Jobs. He said that we were not at war, we made great products and the competition was always a positive thing.

Regarding the accusations of stealing, Bill once said: “it’s like we both had this rich neighbor called Xerox and when I broke in to steal his TV, I found out that you already stole it.”

Fact No. 8: Cannot call himself ‘Sir’

Bill Gates has an Honorary Knighthood from the Queen, but he cannot call himself sir. Gates received this honor from the queen in 2005 and apparently chatted to her about computers.

So, basically, you have to British to be able to call yourself ‘Sir’. But Gates has an American Citizenship means he can’t enjoy the aspect of a knighthood. But he does get to use the initials KBE after his name. KBE is an acronym for Knight of the British Empire.

Fact No. 9: Patent for the weather control machine

Bill Gates has patented a weather-controlling machine. The machine doesn’t stop it from raining so that Gates can go on his private beach. It’s a bit bigger than that the machine pumps cold water into the Ocean and attempts to block or at least lessen hurricanes. Speaking of machines, he recently financed on that turns poop into water.

He is truly an incredible man and not he’s just changed the world through technology but because of his many charitable deeds too. It’s suggested that he saved 5 million people lives through funding vaccines around the world.

This fact is for the lovers of chemistry. It is a dream for most of the science and chemistry lovers to see all the existing elements on earth in real life. But this is a reality for our revolutionary entrepreneur.

Thinking about the rate at which the world’s population is growing, he promised $100K to the creator of the Next-Gen Condom. So, whichever scientist is the first to create a condom which quotes significantly preserves or enhances pleasure will receive a big check from Gates as a thank you.

One of the main focuses of the Gates foundation is access to health care around the world. So, Next-Gen Condom would be something that people would actually want to use. It would protect a lot of people from STDs.

Besides that, he’s on a mission to have no poor countries in the world by 2035.
